Manufactured homes in San Diego are reaching an all time spike in popularity. Currently for sale, a 1,500 square foot, three bedroom, two bath home that has granite countertops, wood cabinets, high ceilings, and a walk-in closet sells for about $240,000 in San Diego proper, while other homes in the area are going for around $500,000 to $700,000.

That’s because it’s a manufactured home.

“They’re very, very well insulated nowadays; they’re built just like a house probably better,” says the owner.

The homes can be built in as little as two to three weeks but because of an increase in demand and popularity.

Customers can go online to choose from different floor plans and customizable options.

The homes are located in mobile homes parks all over San Diego County, many of which are restricted to seniors. Some parks open to families of all ages.

Although the prices of the manufactured homes may be considerably lower than their traditional neighbors, buyers should consider the price of renting space in a mobile home park. In some cases, the expense can equal the mortgage on the mobile home.
